Built for players who want to compete.

TAL Chess Academy was founded around one frustration: most chess instruction stops at "how the pieces move" and never builds toward the calculation, preparation, and composure a rated tournament actually demands.

We built the Academy around a simple structure — clear levels, a defined curriculum at each one, and coaching that explains the reasoning behind every move. Students don't just learn theory; they learn how to think their way through a position they've never seen before.

The Academy trains juniors and adults across three programmes, with internal tournaments to keep the stakes real between external events.

Depth over breadth

Five principles that shape every lesson we teach.

01

Experienced Coaches

Coaches who work through the reasoning behind every move, not just the move itself, and hold each student to a standard they can actually reach.

02

Structured Curriculum

A progression built on decades of pedagogical practice, not a loose collection of tactics puzzles.

03

Tournament Preparation

Students train against the clock, under classical time controls, before they ever sit a rated game.

04

Individual Attention

Small group sizes and detailed game reviews mean every student's weaknesses are actually addressed.

05

Competitive Environment

Regular internal tournaments keep the stakes real between external competitions.

See the philosophy in practice

The best way to understand how we teach is to sit in on a lesson.
